Special Notice

In view of the latest situation of COVID-19, library facilities including Hong Kong Central Library and the six major libraries (City Hall, Kowloon, Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin, Tuen Mun and Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library) reopened earlier this month will be temporarily closed starting from March 23 (Monday). Other public libraries and their Students’ Study Room, Mobile Libraries will continue to be temporarily closed until further notice. All book drop services of the Hong Kong Public Libraries and those located at three MTR stations as well as the self-service library stations at Island East Sports Centre Sitting-out Area, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Tsuen Nam Road, Tai Wai will also suspend services. During the period, public libraries will continue to provide online services such as e-Books and e-Databases. Overdue fines will not be generated for late return of library materials, due date of reservation pick up will be extended and the maximum number of renewal will be increased accordingly. Business and Industry Library Collection

Coverage: In addition to the present collection of about 35,000 volumes of business and industry reference books and journals, microforms, CD-ROMs and e-databases.

Type: Reference Material, available for public use in the library

Introduction:

To cooperate with the opening of the Hong Kong Central Library in 2001, part of the City Hall reference collection was transferred to the Hong Kong Central Library. At the same time, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department planned to set up a Business and Industry Library in the City Hall Reference Library to better serve the business and industry sectors as well as members of the general public who are interested in these subjects. The collection covering the following materials:

  • Reference books on business and industry: books on finance, banking, securities, insurance, logistics, business management, trade regulations, industrial technology and manufacturing industries, etc.;
  • Journals on business and industry: the Library is now subscribing some 800 journals in Chinese and English from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and overseas to provide up-to-date information and research reports on business and industry of various countries;
  • E-databases: the databases provide timely and easily retrievable information on regional analysis, economic indicators, statistical data, market research reports, company profiles, trade regulations, etc.; and
  • Information on listed companies in Hong Kong: the Library stocks Hong Kong Exchanges Collection, including information such as IPOs, daily quotations, annual reports, etc. of the listed companies in Hong Kong.
